Full-time employees of Georgetown University receive a comprehensive benefits package designed to assist with the costs associated with living in Qatar, in addition to benefits provided to all Georgetown employees.  Employees are eligible for benefits and allowances based on appointment type, grade level and other terms and conditions applicable to each benefit and/or allowance.

Coordination of Benefits

Employees who are beneficiaries of certain benefits and allowances through another family member residing in Qatar, might not be eligible to receive the same benefits and allowances from GU-Q. Such benefits and allowances include, but are not limited to:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Housing
  • Education for Dependent Children residing in Qatar
  • Home Leave Travel

All employees are required to complete and update a Benefits and Allowances Declaration Form confirming other sources of benefits. More information can be found in the Faculty and Staff Handbook.

Expatriation and Repatriation

GU-Q will assist in expatriation and repatriation for employees sponsored by Qatar Foundation by covering the following:

  • Expatriation and repatriation airfare for the employee and relocating dependents
  • Expatriation and repatriation travel expenses
  • Shipping and excess baggage
