Qatar National Day

Celebrated annually on December 18th, Qatar National Day (QND) is a public holiday and national commemoration of Qatar’s unification and independence. All of Qatar takes the day off of work for a day of festivities that last well into the night, when palm trees twinkling with holiday lights line the streets full of revelers.

Working with the Qatari Student Society on campus, Georgetown organizes many festivities and programs to celebrate QND. The national flag and maroon and white ribbons and decorations are proudly displayed throughout the building, as students, faculty and staff celebrate national heritage through commemoratives word dance performances and other traditional activities. The Georgetown community also takes part in the national celebrations organized along the Corniche in Doha, which are capped off with a brilliant display offireworks.
