New Measures by Qatari Government

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, the Qatari government announced several new measures to reduce the outbreak of COVID-19. Please find below a summary of the measures many of which are effective today:

  • Effective Friday, May 22, 2020 until further notice, all citizens and residents are obligated to install the EHTERAZ app on their smartphones when leaving the house for any reason. The app is free and available to download in the App Store and Google Play;
  • Effective Tuesday, May 19, 2020 (today) until further notice, all citizens and residents must not have more than two people in a vehicle. A maximum of three people are allowed in taxis, limousines or private vehicles driven by the family driver. Please read the details here;
  • Effective Tuesday, May 19, 2020 (today) until further notice, sports activities must be practiced in an area close to the person's residence, taking into consideration other precautionary measures such as avoiding gatherings, wearing masks and practicing physical distancing;
  • Effective Tuesday, May 19, 2020 (today) until May 30, 2020, all commercial activities will be stopped and shops will be closed with the exception of food and catering shops, pharmacies and restaurants providing delivery services.
