Dear Members of the GU-Q Community,
We have learned that a member of our community has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual has not been in close contact with anyone at GU-Q since we began working remotely on March 15. Public health authorities in Qatar have been informed and are taking the appropriate next steps.
We will continue to notify you of any known confirmed COVID-19 cases among members of our community. We ask that you continue to respect the privacy and medical confidentiality of our community members. While it is understandable to question if you have had contact with someone who has a confirmed case, please remember the following:
- The Ministry of Public Health has jurisdiction for all residents of Qatar who test positive and will determine who should be contacted based on its investigation of each case.
- With the ongoing community spread of COVID-19, it is important to practice good health hygiene, physical distancing, and follow the guidance from the authorities.
- The Health Information section of our COVID-19 site is available as a resource if you are feeling sick, have been in contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, or want to know best practices for self-quarantine and physical distancing.
We remind all members of our community that if you are feeling sick, or if you have been in close contact with someone displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you should self-quarantine by staying home at least 14 days after your exposure. If you start to develop symptoms, including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please contact the Ministry of Public Health's hotline at 16000. In addition, faculty, staff and students are strongly urged to inform Malgorzata (Gosia) Ledwon.
As the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, please make sure to continue following best practices for safeguarding against COVID-19 and help support the health and well-being of the entire community,
