Omar Shakir
Visiting Fellow
Omar Shakir is Adjunct Instructor and Visiting Fellow at Georgetown University in Qatar. He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC. Shakir currently serves as the Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch, where he investigates human rights abuses in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. Prior to his current role, he was a Bertha Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, where he focused on U.S. counterterrorism policies, including legal representation of Guantanamo detainees.
