Georgetown Opens Registration for Spring Session of Community Classes

Community Classes Fall 2018

Georgetown University in Qatar has opened registration for the spring session of their popular Community Classes, a six-week long program of courses that invites the public to explore a new hobby, learn a new skill, or to engage and discuss a topic of interest.

Taught by a range of GU-Q scholars and staff, as well as seasoned experts, leading academics, and industry experts, each session of the evening classes are two hours long and are designed to fit the needs and schedules of working professionals.  The 14 course offerings this session include both Arabic and English language options.

Sarah Mahmoud explained how the classes helped her brush up on her career goals, saying: “My major was in journalism, I took this course because I work in a bank in the marketing department and I was looking for extra information on digital marketing. I really enjoyed the class because it was very informative and visually and intellectually appealing.  I look forward to taking more courses in the future.”

This year’s courses offer a range of topics, including introductions to business management, project management, women in American politics, digital marketing, international relations in the Gulf region, the ethics and economics of football in a globalized world, and more.

Arabic language classes offer topics in literature, introduction to emergency and disaster management, co-active coaching for personal development, and Arabic calligraphy.

“I have a degree in art, and I never studied anything related to business. I found this course to be very helpful and informative,” said Community Classes student Dana Mahmoud.

Registration is open until the end of the first week of classes, but GU-Q encourages interested students to sign up online to ensure availability. The early bird registration discount ends February 24, 2019.

The classes are open to participants over the age of 18, and no previous qualification or degree is required. Course enrollment and attendance will earn a certificate of completion.
