Biography

Hi, I’m Betsy Riley! I count it an honor to work one-on-one with students at any stage of their process, asking good questions and providing helpful feedback as they shape their presentations, written pieces, and creative works. With a B.A. in Professional Writing and Creative Writing from Purdue University, I spent several years working in marketing and script writing before pulling up roots to settle in Qatar, where I began studying Arabic and the fascinating cultures of the Gulf. Having worked with Education City students over the last few years through writing consultations and training workshops, I’ve become particularly interested in how the beliefs we hold about learning and teaching inform our university experience. 

Some of my favorites? A well-articulated argument, an engaging speech, a poem that ends by pulling you back for a second read. I also love hiking in Colorado with my family, warm ginger milk, and connecting with other humans. Stop by the Writing Center – I’d love to know more about you!
