Educational Enrichment Programs

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) provides high school students with meaningful and engaging programming to foster lifelong learning prepare them for university-level success.  With pre-college activities that vary from one-day workshops to weekend conferences, to three-week summer coursework, programming is designed to be accessible to every type of high school student.  The Office of Educational Enrichment within Student Development administers this program with the mission of promoting academic and personal growth for students in Qatar and abroad.

Model United Nations

Debate current global issues and gain insight into the world of international politics and policy-making at the oldest MUN in Qatar.  Also join us in the Fall for our practice MUN.

High school students in grades 11 and 12 get the unique opportunity to delve deeper into world of social entrepreneurship and business through ten days of workshops and learning exercises in Fall and Spring.

Georgetown Pre-College Summer

Prepare for the challenges of university life through this three-week program which provides SAT/ACT preparation, introduces GU-Q’s curriculum, includes preparatory courses in English and math, and offers study skills workshops. 

Georgetown Model United Nations (GMUN)

Dates offered: Fall MUN (Schools in Qatar ONLY) – November 4-6 & Spring MUN (International Conference)- March 3-5. Application for the Fall MUN is now LIVE!

The GMUN conference is a forum for engaged high school students to debate current global issues and gain insight into the world of international politics and policy-making. MUN offers students and educators resources and training sessions geared towards preparing school groups for participation in the annual GMUN conference, the oldest MUN conference in Qatar. Each year we welcome over 350 students from schools around the world to Doha for four days of MUN committee sessions and cultural experiences. 

Planet Georgetown (PG)

Dates offered: September 2021 – March 2022. Application is now LIVE!

PG invites students in grades 9,10, 11, and 12 of high school to explore the world of today in order to shape the world of tomorrow.  The program is comprised of multiple interactive workshops throughout the year all geared towards personal and academic skills building.

Georgetown Global Challengers (GCC)

Dates offered: 21 November – 2 December. Application will be live shortly!

Through GGC high school students (Grade 11 and 12) get the unique opportunity to delve deeper into world of social entrepreneurship and business through a series of workshops and learning exercises. Selected high school students will attend a 10 day workshop during Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.

Georgetown Pre-College Summer program (GPS)

Dates offered: June/July 2021

GPS helps prepare students for the challenges of university life. The three-week program introduces Georgetown Qatar’s curriculum, provides SAT/ACT preparation sessions, includes preparatory courses in English and math, and offers study skills workshops. The selection process is competitive and only a maximum of 30 students would be chosen to attend this program.

Georgetown Global Leadership Summer program (GLS)

Date offered: June 2020

GLS was an immersive two week summer program responding to the pandemic, focusing on leadership skills open to all local students in Qatar from grades 9-12. Students focused on areas of personal growth and development through a myriad of workshops and simulation exercises. This program was aimed at providing further support to high school students in Qatar for university-level success and beyond.
