About Georgetown University in Qatar

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is the Qatar campus of the world renowned Georgetown University located in Washington, DC. The DC campus was established in 1789, and the campus in Doha, Qatar was established in 2005 in partnership with Qatar Foundation. GU-Q offers a four-year undergraduate program in international affairs which awards a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree.

Our Advisory Board

The Joint Advisory Board is composed of members appointed by Qatar Foundation and by Georgetown University. It meets biannually for high-level strategic discussions to provide guidance and direction for the campus administration. 

Message from the Dean

It is with great humility, along with pride in our history and legacy that I take the mantle as interim dean of GU-Q. As a professor who has taught at Georgetown University for 35 years, I can attest to our commitment to students, faculty and staff, and of our appreciation for the community members and stakeholders who support our mission.

The Qatar campus of the university is dedicated to promoting intellectual, ethical, and spiritual understanding through serious and sustained discourse among people of different faiths, cultures, and beliefs. Through education, research, and service, it aims to advance knowledge and to provide students and the community with a holistic experience that produces global citizens committed to the service of humanity. It seeks to build upon the world-class reputation of Georgetown University and its schools across a variety of disciplines, and to work with its partner Qatar Foundation (QF) to support and develop Qatar’s knowledge economy.
