At Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and guests is our highest priority. Our dedicated Facilities Management (FM) team, in partnership with Qatar Foundation Security, maintains a proactive and responsive environment that supports the wellbeing of our campus community.
24/7 Security and Emergency Support
A dedicated GU-Q Security team is present on-site 24/7. For assistance:
- Inside GU-Q Building: Call 4457 8458 (Security Office, Room LF04)
- Elsewhere in Education City: Call QF Security at 4454 0999
- Outside Education City (Doha-wide): Call Qatar Emergency Services at 999

Safety Protocols and Response
We encourage all building users to familiarize themselves with the following procedures:
- Evacuation Maps & Signage: Posted throughout the building for quick exit guidance
- Fire Drills and Wardens: Fire drills are conducted twice annually; follow instructions during alarms. Details about fire wardens find here
- Assembly Points:
- AP1: Drop-off/Visitor Parking
- AP2: Dean’s Courtyard (Folly area)
- AP3: Near Car Park 2 (Landscaped zone)
- Assisted Evacuation: Available for individuals requiring mobility support View details
Building Safety, Incident Reporting & Theft Prevention
- Incident Reporting: Any incidents, injuries, hazards, or suspicious activities should be reported immediately to the Security Office (LF04or by calling 4457 8458).
- Lost & Found: Unattended items left beyond 15 minutes will be stored securely by Security View policy
- Valuables: Avoid leaving personal items like phones or laptops unattended
- Clery Act Compliance: GU-Q publishes annual security reports and alerts as part of its legal safety obligations. More details here
ID Cards and Building Access
All community members must carry their GU ID card while on campus. Cards are required for building access, printing, and library use.
Lost cards must be reported immediately.
Health, First Aid & International Safety
- On-Site First Aid: Trained responders and AED equipment available on-site
- Emergency Response Team (ERT): Available during critical events to support evacuations and coordination /cover & support during major emergencies.
- International Travel: GU contracts with International SOS for travel and medical assistance for all university-related travel.
- Embassy Registration: Recommended for all non-Qatari citizens living in Qatar
Road Safety in Education City
- Speed Limits: 40 kph on roads, up to 20 kph in parking lots.
- Vehicle Registration: All vehicles must have valid registration. Vehicle Access Tag (VAT) for smooth EC access can be obtained by contacting BOSS. Refer to Parking at GU-Q for more details.
- Accidents: Call 4454 0999 and wait for police to file a report.
- Parking: Only in designated areas. Unauthorized parking in disabled spaces or main roads is prohibited and may result in traffic fine.
Gender Discrimination & Misconduct Prevention
In accordance with Title IX, GU-Q prohibits sexual misconduct and gender discrimination. Incidents must be reported and are handled with confidentiality and due process.
