Father Douglas Jones, SJ is a Jesuit priest who works with the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) Institute of Politics and the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Lebanon. He was ordained as a priest in the summer of 2025 and later spent six weeks at the Jesuit parish in Atlanta, Georgia. Father Jones studied political science and international studies at the University of Scranton, where he spent a semester abroad at Amman, Jordan. He later obtained a PhD in Middle East politics at Rutgers University. Before becoming a priest of the Jesuit Order, he ministered in schools and worked at a hospital in New York City. At Fordham University, he served as a postdoctoral researcher and a political science lecturer. He was also sent many times to work for JRS in Eastern Lebanon, near the border of Syria.
