Maryam Alsada
Adjunct Lecturer
Maryam Alsada is Adjunct Lecturer at Georgetown University in Qatar. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology, and an M.Sc in Public Policy from University College London, and is a graduate of Georgetown University in Qatar. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Al-Mujadilah—Center and Mosque for Women, and serves on the board of Tariq Bin Ziad School.
An anthropologist, she examines women’s histories in the Arabian Gulf and the intertwined politics of knowledge, memory, and representation. Her research foregrounds Gulf women’s lived experiences and creative practices as vital archives of social thought and historical consciousness. At Georgetown University in Qatar, she teaches Documenting Gulf Women and the forthcoming Reading Gulf Women, which together invite students to explore women’s lives as sites of experience and intellectual production. Her teaching, recognized through multiple Engelhard Faculty Fellowships, integrates reflection, well-being, and cura personalis into the intellectual and pedagogical life of the classroom.
