Georgetown University to Hold Career Fair

Georgetown University School of Foreign Services in Qatar (SFS-Q) will open its doors to prospective employers from across the Gulf at the fourth annual Georgetown Career Fair. This event will provide a forum for prominent organizations from Qatar and the region to meet directly with the highly-qualified, diverse and talented Georgetown student and graduate population in order to fulfill current and future recruitment needs.
This year’s fair will be held on Tuesday, March 27 from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Georgetown Building in Qatar Foundation’s Education City and is expected to attract over 25 participating organizations. Among the confirmed participants are a number of employers who have successfully recruited SFS-Q students and graduates such as Brown Lloyd James, Enterprise Qatar, Hill & Knowlton, Katara, Patton Boggs, Qatar Airways, Shell and Qatar Gas. Representatives from the Doha Film Institute, Google, Qatar Cool, Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, ROTA and Standard Chartered will also be actively recruiting and promoting their respective organizations at the Fair.
“We are thrilled with the swift response and the high caliber of the organizations already registered to attend our Career Fair. This speaks to the fact that the reputation of our graduates as highly-skilled and well-trained employees is growing among employers in the Gulf,” said Charles Nailen, Executive Officer for Outreach and External Relations at SFS-Q.
The event will kick off with a Recognition and Networking Lunch where participants will be able to meet informally with students in their senior year, as well as Georgetown faculty, staff, and fellow corporate representatives. Immediately following lunch, the Career Fair will be open to all current students and alumni.
In addition to securing professional opportunities for students, the University is using this as a way to explore new and innovative means to strengthen corporate partnership and engagement with the external community.
The Career Fair will be the first official event hosted by Georgetown SFS-Q’s newly launched Outreach and External Relations department whose primary goal is to enrich the experience of students and the community by facilitating access to resources and developing meaningful relationships between the University and external partner organizations. Companies interested in recruiting some of the top talent in Qatar are encouraged to contact the Office of Outreach and External Relations; the SFS-Q team is ready to engage corporate and public sector partners and develop customized corporate strategies for each organization.
