Last Chance Admissions Open House for SFS-Q this Sunday, January 29th
This Sunday, January 29th, an Admissions Open House will be held at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Q) for all prospective students wishing to apply for entrance into the undergraduate program this September.
The deadline to apply for free is on February 1st, 2012. Afterwards, a nominal fee will apply to all applications before the final cut-off date of March 1st, 2012.
SFS-Q has conducted open houses in previous years, but this year it will be bigger and better than ever, featuring tutorials on the online-application process and an essay writing workshop on how to compose the required personal statement and global issue essay.
All universities in Education City have transitioned to a strictly online application, and SFS-Q has complied with this standardization policy. To facilitate the application process, prospective students can now exclusively apply via the internet from anywhere in the world, in a digital format, including incidentals such as supporting documentation and compositions.
Prospective students, parents and all interested parties are invited to attend this open house on Sunday, January 29th, 2012 for further information on how to apply to Georgetown University’s Edmund A.Walsh School of Foreign Service in Qatar. Starting at 3:00 p.m., there will be a Financial Aid table, at which experts will assist those inquiring into the nature and method of accessing financial aid resources. A Student Development expert will also be there to detail the many activities and co-curricular initiatives available to students for expanding their horizons and developing their outlook and range of competencies.
Guests will then be invited to SFS-Q’s largest lecture hall, with a capacity of 120 people, to attend a session conducted by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Brendan Hill. A Career Development booth will be available for prospective students who wish to learn what kinds of employment opportunities arise from a degree in Foreign Service.
This plenary will be followed by a workshop given by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Anne Nebel. She will be coaching attendees in the finer points of essay writing, in advance of the deadline for personal statements and other supporting documentation. Once the requirements of the application are reviewed, prospective students and parents are invited to request a tour of our facilities with Guest Relations, located on the main floor.
A parent, Jayesh Shah, thought that the previous Admissions Open House was very well organized and he was pleased to know that in a matter of two hours he managed to acquire a lot of information. “To come across this (much) information otherwise would have taken much more time and even then it gives room for misinterpretation. Here I got all the information I needed and got an immediate answer to all my questions,” said Shah. For more information, please visit the calendar section of our website, qatar.sfs.georgetown.edu.
