Biography

Why are some countries lagging in development while others progress? Why do nations with similar economic characteristics trade the same goods? Does income inequality matter more than economic growth? Why poverty continues to persist despite economic growth? These are just a few of the thought-provoking questions that inspired Samreen to pursue a career in economics.

Samreen earned her undergraduate degree in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan. Driven by her passion for understanding the complexities of global economic systems and development, she went on to complete her Master of Science (MSc) in Economic Development with Distinction from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

Her academic journey eventually led her to Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, where she began as a Writing and Economics Specialist, assisting students in their pursuit of academic excellence and understanding economics as a subject. Today, as the Economics Support Manager in the Office of Academic Services, she oversees and manages the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Program in Economics, supervises economics peer tutors and specialists, and supports core and upper-level courses as a Teaching Assistant.

Samreen also spearheads initiatives such as the STATA Bootcamp, equipping students with essential econometric tools for success. Her dedication to student academic development, combined with her expertise in economics, enables her to cultivate a robust learning support system that empowers students to thrive and succeed in the subject.
