Jinli Wu is a GU-Q Doctoral Fellow for 2025-26. He is a doctoral student in Psychology at Georgetown University. His primary expertise is in cross-cultural psychology, and his work examines cultural variations in how people think, feel, and experience sociopsychological phenomena across human societies. In particular, his dissertation examines folk psychology—how laypeople across different societies conceptualize and structure social processes around the mind. Is the mind socially important and accessible? Is it voluntary and controllable? These fundamental differences in folk theories of mind have broad implications for social functioning, including moral judgment, interpersonal evaluation, and human development.
