Colloquium: The Spirit and the Law 

The colloquium will explore interpretations and transformations of the relationship between Law and Spirit in religious traditions, its inter-religious implications, and its bearing upon the formation and definition of religious identity.

The colloquium will explore interpretations and transformations of the relationship between Law and Spirit in religious traditions, its inter-religious implications, and its bearing upon the formation and definition of religious identity. It will also focus on the intersections and tensions between mysticism and the normative framework of religious and secular laws. 

Speakers include faculty members from Georgetown University in Qatar, the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University, the College of Islamic Studies at Hamad bin Khalifa University, Northwestern University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar and other international scholars.
