Zeidon Alkinani is an Adjunct Instructor at Georgetown University in Qatar, where he teaches courses focusing on the politics of the Middle East and North Africa region. He holds a Ph.D. in Politics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen. He is also Head of Programs at Qatar Foundation’s CEO Office.

Specializes in the influence of identity politics on the geopolitics of the MENA region, with a particular focus on post-2003 Iraq. He has published extensively, including articles, reports, policy analyses, and a pioneering book chapter on Iraq’s post-2019 protest movement—the first academic publication in English to examine the movement.

He previously taught political science at the University of Aberdeen and is a fellow at the Arab Center in Washington DC, previously held a fellowship and the Center for Iranian Studies in Ankara, Turkey, where he contributed to political discourse on Iraq and the broader region. Dr. Alkinani’s insights also appear in Al Jazeera English, Open Democracy, American Political Science Association, Gulf International Forum, Middle East Monitor, The New Arab, Al-Araby TV, and other prominent outlets.
