Celebration

As part of the year end celebrations of the graduates of Georgetown University in Qatar, the QF partner university took the time to honor the 57 graduates of the Class of 2020 and 74 graduates of the Class of 2021 in the presence of their family, professors, and peers on May 11, 2022.

The celebration at Katara Hall was attended by Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia, who expressed his joy at being able to join the graduates, saying:

“We are honored and grateful for the contributions the members of the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 have made to our Georgetown community, as you have pursued your personal journey of formation and embraced a deep commitment to the common good of our global community. We could not be more grateful to welcome you back together and to celebrate you for this very special commencement.”

Dean Clyde Wilcox officiated the celebration event, saying, “We are so happy to finally gather together with you today to celebrate a milestone of great importance in your lives,” and he concluded with the encouragement, “Classes of 2020 and 2021, you have already taken your first steps on a path to better our world. Keep walking in confidence, grace, and peace.”

The celebration commenced with a Qur’anic recitation, followed by national anthems and closed with the Alma Mater and benediction. During the event, the University charter was read and students were called to walk across the stage for their pictures with University leadership.
