Advancing Financial Education for Transnational Families

This research project has two interrelated objectives. The first objective is to design a financial literacy curriculum aimed at migrant households. The second objective is to produce a set of instructional DVDs on financial education using the contents of the curriculum. The ultimate purpose, which will be pursued in a separate study that we will seek grant funding for, is to carefully test the offering of these educational DVDs to migrant households using a randomized control trial approach. If there are positive impacts on financial behavior of the subjects, we would subsequently aim to disseminate these educational DVDs widely to the migrant community.

Deliverables:

The research was presented at the 2014 Qatar Foundation Annual Research Conference and awarded the best student poster presentation for Humanities. The project has also been accepted at an Undergraduate Symposium at GU DC.
