Semester Exchange For Students

In their Junior year, students can elect to spend a semester at one of Georgetown’s global locations: Doha, Qatar, Washington, DC, USA, or Florence, Italy. This impactful experience helps build independence and foster empathy while maintaining course progression and providing a safe environment for growth.

Study at Georgetown’s Campus in Washington, DC

Spend a semester experiencing life in America, from the cultural celebrations, to the high political intrigue in the nation’s capital, the DC campus offers unique insight into international affairs today.

I was blessed with the opportunity to take part in Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, and more. My semester abroad has been a great experience with much exploration of different perspectives, the opportunity to meet people and visit places, including museums, the Capitol Building, and the White House, outside campus.

—Iqra Nadeem, Class of 2026, Doyle Global Dialogue Reflections

“DC was a surprise with all its greenery and modest townhouses, it dismantled one of my many presumptions about America. In fact my experience in America was characterized by a lot of this dismantling.”

—Tashafee Masoodi, Class of 2026, Doyle Global Dialogue Reflections

“From the crisp winter charm to the spring cherry blossoms, the weather was perfect for outdoor activities and exploring the city on foot. Unparalleled access to the museums was one of the best parts of living in DC.”

—Abdul Hannan, Class of 2025

Study at Villa Le Balze in Florence, Italy

Georgetown’s Villa in Italy offers access to an ancient center of European culture while experiencing contemporary life in Italy. Students benefit from a carefully designed balance of academic coursework, co-curricular programming, and independent exploration and experience-building, underpinned by opportunities for continuous reflection.

Observing the contrast between Italy’s religious history and modern secular attitudes taught me not to make broad generalizations or assumptions about a culture.”

Zain Fanik, Class of 2025, Doyle Global Dialogue Reflections

The ringing of church bells and the beautiful religious art on the city’s buildings, depicting the Madonna and Child or various saints, are simply mesmerizing.”

Natali Fanik, Class of 2025, Doyle Global Dialogue Reflections

Study at Georgetown’s Campus in Qatar

Students studying at Georgetown in Washington, DC, are invited to spend a semester living in Qatar’s luxury dorms, learning from Qatar’s highly diverse student body, and experiencing life in the heart of the Middle East.

Students reflect on their semester on the Qatar campus

Living in Qatar taught me that understanding differences isn’t just about appreciating culture from a distance or being open-minded in principle—it’s about learning how to live with, alongside, and within differences.”

—Henna Mushtaq, Class of 2027, Doyle Global Dialogue Reflection
