Enterprise Risk Management

Georgetown University has adopted an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process to help the University identify, understand and manage institutional risks and opportunities. The University’s ERM program was approved by the Board of Directors in 2012. The goal of the program is to assist executive management and the Board of Directors in understanding the most critical institutional risks and ensure that those risks are managed effectively.

The University conducts an annual risk assessment. Key academic and administrative leaders throughout the University are responsible for identifying risks, and an ERM Committee, in consultation with the President, determines the University’s most significant risks. Top institutional risks are monitored and managed by senior University leaders and assigned to the appropriate Board Committee for oversight
