Faculty Development Fund (FDF)

Effective January 1, 2024, all full-time faculty members at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) will be automatically allocated a Faculty Development Fund of $20,000 at the beginning of each calendar year. Faculty from the DC Campus, other Visiting Faculty, and GU-Q Postdoctoral Fellows are eligible for this fund, and their award will be prorated if they are at GU-Q for only a semester.

A unified account will provide a more robust, flexible support system for faculty research and related activities. The process is streamlined, with a brief report on the use of funds to be submitted by December 1 of each year. The funding is flexible and can be allocated to a wide range of activities, including travel to conferences, professional development, workshops, fieldwork, purchases of data sets, and research support, in accordance with university policies and procedures. For more information, consult the Faculty Development Guidelines.

Unused funds can be rolled over into the next year, with the approval of the Office of the Dean. Additional funding of up to $5,000 can be requested if funds are exhausted during the year. Each of these contingencies will require a compelling justification.
