The State of Qatar provides national health coverage for all residents of Qatar, by issuing a health card.
GU-Q helps international students to obtain and renew their health card. Qatari citizens and residents obtain and renew their own health card.

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is the non-profit health care provider in Doha that manages Primary Health Care Centers. Primary Health Care Centers provide basic health, dental and vision care that are covered by the National (Hamad) Health Card with no or nominal fee. Supreme Council of Health in Qatar posts the location and visiting hours of Primary Health Care Centers. For making appointment in any Primary Health Care Center, call 107.

Al Gharrafat Primary Health Center is the newest and closest primary health care center to Education City and is located near Al Gharafa municipality and before Al Gharrafat Stadium. The center offers primary medical, dental, visual, and lab services. Students should take their valid National (Hamad) Health Card and passport and present these upon arrival. You do not need to make an appointment. A referral from a primary health care center is necessary for any specialized medical care provided by Hamad Hospital.

There is direct billing arrangement between some health care providers and the insurance arranged by GU-Q for those students who have the coverage. Please check with your insurance policy to find if the requested services are covered and if there is direct billing arrangement in place.
